The Scottish webcomic that got a wee bit political
Anyone else in that fatigue point right now where it’s just really, really difficult to come up with positive thinking stuff to do with politics? I had no cartoon last week, the first time that’s happened since I’ve begun, and today’s one is late, simply because I’m struggling to stay positive right now, and I really want to keep these cartoons positive if I can.
Anyway, I like this idea, I’m thinking of doing a few strips with these two guys, that could be a little fun.
I can’t possibly claim credit for this joke. Back in 2014, in the run up to the ill-fated referendum, a twitter feed appeared with the name @LochYesMonster, which tweeted amusing threats such as “If you vote No, I’ll piddle in the loch!” and later would come to start tweeting more serious messages about basic equalities and treating our vulnerable with dignity, basically everything and independent Scotland hopes for. Last I checked, @LochYesMonster fell silent last year, which was particularly disapointing as I’d been meaning to make this little tribute for a long time. The Loch Yes monster will be joining the list of friends in the Naughty Unicorn and friends series, so expect to see Yessy a bit more in future 🙂
I wanted to see if I could translate Winnie Ewing’s famous words “Stop the world, Scotland wants to get on” into a language everyone in the world can understand. The little Scottish Eye’s silent comic series seems to lend itself to this purpose I thought 🙂
