The first outing of the unicorn in watercolour. Turned out alright I think, though I got a bit of a bleed of the yellow when I was doing the crown as I didn’t give the wash around it time enough to dry. Water colours require a lot more patience that digital, but I’m still prefering the results 🙂
Remember, I’m at Dee Con in Dundee this Saturday, do come along and say hello!

This morning I will drive to work across the Queensferry Crossing for the first time. I figured there were going to be enough pictures of the Queensferry Crossing today though, so this one’s a tribute to that old work horse that has served us so well for over half a century, The Forth Road Bridge, finally getting the rest it deserves. Even if it is only for a couple of days before it has a few extra days work while the opening celebrations take place.
This one is available as a print on my Common Market Store.
So the other day I had a yearning to visit Hobbycraft and buy some water colours… mainly due to a nice watercolour set being advertised in a Hobbycraft marketing email. It was a nifty little thing with a brush pen that you just fill up with water and use with the little watercolour pans. Seeing as I ink my drawings using a Pentel Brush Pen, I figured the transition wouldn’t be so difficult and I’ve been really admiring other artists who use watercolours lately such as Neil Slorance.
I’m really pleased with how this one came out and will be making it available as a print so check the prints page for those on Common Market 🙂
Be honest now, this would explain a lot.
Anyone else just cringing when they see the leader of the Scottish Tories going on about how Trump is a massive let down for defending racists while she just lets her own elected members off with a slap on the wrist?
This is probably my third or fourth attempt drawing a Scottish wildcat. Still not particularly pleased with it, but at least I’ve managed to keep that bad tempered expression that is such a part of our wildcats 🙂
I’ve just given up driving my bike into work this week and have suffered the traffic jams in the car instead. The weather forecast has just become so thoroughly useless of late!
I’ve heard it suggested a few times now that everyone should just start keeping a list of the little things they see changing around them, keeping note of all the freedoms and rights we enjoy right now that drip by drip get taken away, because with each tiny drip we just don’t see it as all that much, but in a wee while, when you put it all together, you’re going to wish you said something sooner 🙁
This past week we’ve seen the first minister of our country be told that she will no longer be allowed to meet face to face with the prime minister of the “United” Kingdom. It says it all about the whole wanting Scotland to lead as part of an equal partnership.
This is one of those comics where I feel like it sounded so much funnier in my head, but the more time I spent preparing it, the more dull it sounded. Meh, wife laughed when she read it, so that makes it worth it I suppose.
